Verizon unveils Motorola Droid

[Motorola/cnet.com]

Rats! I'm not eligible for a Verizon phone upgrade until July. The anticipated Motorola Droid will be available on November 6 for $199 with a two-year contract. This smartphone has a powerful Google search engine that is voice activated.

Apparently this is Verizon's answer to the AT&T's Apple iPhone. There are over 10,000 available applications. Plus, some applications like VZNavigator will be free with this phone.

Here are the specs (ex-Circuit City employee talk)...
-6.6" tall x 2.4" wide x 0.5"thick
-Weighs 6 ounces
-3.7-inch" 16:9 touchscreen with 480 x 854-pixel resolution
-Headphone jack, a micro-USB port and 16GB micro-SD card

Verizon iPhone?

Verizon is supposedly in talks with Apple to bring a version of the iPhone to their network as early as 2010. Yessss, this is great news. I think it's a wise decision because it seems that everyone who doesn't have an iPhone on AT&T has Verizon service, so it would definitely be a big hit.

I can't stand the LG Dare, the touchscreen phone that I currently have with Verizon. I will press dial, and it takes five seconds for it to decide to dial. I don't have that kind of time! It's also difficult to text on the phone. Luckily, the iPhone should be out around the time I am due for my "new every two" phone.

Sony P Series

Sony has unveiled their P Series laptops for pre-order. I really want one of these little things in this fabulous red color. They're perfect for travel at a mere 8" and feather-light 1.5 pounds. They come in four nice, shiny colors: onyx black, emerald green, garnet red and crystal white.

Windows Vista Home Premium is the operating system, which most "netbooks" don't have. They also come equipped with built-in GPS navigation in case you get lost.

Starting at $899.99, these will cost you a pretty penny! I have a feeling that they're worth the splurge though.
