Vena Cava for GAP

I am loving this dress by Vena Cava for GAP. Designers Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock of Vena Cava are the finalists for the 2008 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. At only $88, this dress is a steal. The front zip is fabulous, and it also cuts in in the back. Nicky Hilton was recently spotted in the frock.

There are also a collection of safari-chic khakis and hats available here.

Lady GaGa, is that a button on your head?

[Mirrorpix/Splash News Online]

Pop singer Lady GaGa volunteered yesterday at Orange RockCorps HIV Support Center in Manchester, England. It's wonderful that the 23-year-old wants to help others.

Now, about that hat/hair/whatever it is. I'm all about taking fashion risks, but Miss GaGa's fashion and hair choices leave me a bit perplexed. I guess the unflattering, big glasses and wigs are all a part of her wacky image. Well, at least she decided to wear pants to this event. I really am wondering if the girl ever gets a day off. It must take her ages to get ready!

Big Oscar changes

The 82nd Academy Awards will take place on March 7, 2010, and there are some big changes in store for the show. Instead of the usual five films being nominated for the Best Picture award, there will now be 10!

“After more than six decades, the Academy is returning to some of its earlier roots, when a wider field competed for the top award of the year,” said Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Sid Ganis. “The final outcome, of course, will be the same – one Best Picture winner – but the race to the finish line will feature 10, not just five, great movies from 2009.”

Casablanca was named Best Picture in 1943, the last year that 10 films were up for the award. I can see why they'd want to make this change. Bringing more films into the pot means more money and more viewers.

It is also rumored that there will no longer be a Best Original Song category. This is not cool, Ganis! The performances of the nominated songs is often very entertaining. A few previous winners include "Jai Ho" from Slumdog Millionaire, "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" from Hustle & Flow, "Lose Yourself" from 8 Mile, and, of course, "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic.

Beyonce rocks Balmain at BET Awards

[Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic]

I'm digging Beyonce's colorful Balmain cocktail minidress and purple heels. The dress is fashion-forward and fun. She maybe should have gone a size up in the dress, but we won't hold that against her.

Michael Jackson was a big fan of Balmain. The French fashion house created a collection inspired by the King of Pop consisting of military jackets and lots of crystals and sequins. Jackson, a true fashion icon, was recently seen wearing numerous designs from the women's collection.

Last night's BET Awards paid tribute to Jackson. His sister, Janet, gave a touching speech. Jackson's father, Joe, also made an appearance.

My Sister's Keeper

My Sister's Keeper is the kind of tearjerker that had even the men in the audience needing a tissue. I read the novel by Jodi Picoult a few years ago, so I certainly knew what to expect. Director and screenplay writer Nick Cassavetes (along with Jeremy Leven) took the film in a slightly different direction from the novel. There are some plot and character variations, and the end of the film is better than the shocking end of the novel.

Anna Fitzgerald (Abigail Breslin) wants to be medically emancipated from her parents, Sara (Cameron Diaz) and Brian (Jason Patric). Anna was conceived via invitro fertilization with the hopes of saving her cancer-stricken sister, Kate (Sofia Vassilieva). Unfortunately, Kate is in desperate need of a kidney since her body is failing, and Anna is a perfect match.

Anna turns to lawyer Campbell Alexander (Alec Baldwin) to help her win the rights to her own body. Her parents are devastated when they learn of her wishes, especially her mother who has given up just about everything to help save Kate. Just as the family is about to fall apart, things come back together. We see flashbacks of a sweet relationship between Kate and another cancer patient, Taylor Ambrose (Thomas Dekker).

My Sister's Keeper is touching and heart breaking. The convoluted plot was a problem at times for the film. Times and places kept switching, and it was hard for the audience to keep up. The actors were all well chosen though. Vassilieva and Diaz especially did an excellent job.

Robert Pattinson looks happy

[Splash online]

See, he looks happy! Robert Pattinson smiled and waved for the cameras yesterday while filming Remember Me in Manhattan. Twilight actor Mike Welch, who plays Mike Newton, recently had this to say about his co-star Rob...

“I don’t see how this is sustainable—is this gonna keep going for the rest of his life? I understand it, it’s Edward Cullen, I get it. But he’s still Rob Pattinson first—he’s still his own guy. Is it time to start getting concerned here? He’s an actor who likes to prepare out in public — he likes to read a script at a coffee shop where there’s people walking by and there’s noise; he prepares that way. And he can’t really do that anymore. It’s tough, man … I don’t know where his life is really headed... Man, no, I don’t wish I had Rob’s life at all. I’m glad he’s OK. And as long as people don’t start ripping at him and breaking him in two, I think we’ll be OK … I wish him the best, and hope he’s going to be all right.”

Good grief! Welch is being awfully dramatic.

King of Pop

I, of course, love Michael Jackson's Thriller album (who on Earth doesn't?), but growing up in the 1990s, I was also a big fan of Dangerous. One of my favorite Michael Jackson songs is Black or White - which is considered to be the best selling rock single of the nineties.

Celebrities continue to pay tribute to the legend. R&B singer Ne-Yo said it well, "Michael Jackson will live forever through the thing that he put all of his life energy into: his music. ...Long live Michael Jackson."

The death of two American icons

June 25, 2009 is a sad, sad day as we have lost two American icons. Farrah Fawcett, star of Charlie's Angels, lost her lengthy battle with anal cancer at age 62. The King of Pop Michael Jackson died suddenly this evening of cardiac arrest at the age of 50. Fawcett's and Jackson's deaths are untimely and tragic.

Another beloved American legend, Ed McMahon, died earlier this week. My prayers go out to their families in their time of grief and suffering. Their extraordinary lives will not be forgotten.

Nicely done, Zooey Deschanel

[Debbie VanStory/iPhoto]

Actress Zooey Deschanel wore a lovely Naeem Khan dress to the Hollywood premiere of her film (500) Days of Summer. The girly, navy embellished cocktail dress looked very retro chic. I'm also loving the half-up 'do with bangs.

Indian designer Khan moved to the United States as a teen. He later worked for the fashion house Halston. The designer launched his own collection in 2003 and is now a favorite of many glam ladies including Jennifer Lopez and Queen Rania of Jordan. Khan's luxe designs are available at Neiman Marcus, Saks and Bergdorf Goodman's.

Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett

[Flynet]

Good grief, Twilight star Kristen Stewart really looks like Joan Jett. On the Los Angeles set of her biopic The Runaways, Stewart definitely looked the part of the rocker she plays. She's also been hanging out with Jett.

As for her outfit, I know that she's in character, so I get that. However, she really got her hair cut into a jet black mullet. I would've just requested a wig!

Bradley Cooper dating Jennifer Aniston?

The Hangover star Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Aniston were seen on a date in Manhattan last week at Italian restaurant Il Cantinori. Very interesting. Back in May, it was rumored that Cooper was dating Aniston. He shot down the rumors, saying, "My mom loves it, but unfortunately it's not true."

Cooper split with actress Jennifer Esposito (Crash) in 2007 after four short months of marriage. Aniston split with singer John Mayer back in May.

Johnny Depp leaves a $4,000 tip

[Vanity Fair]

Just when you thought you couldn't love Johnny Depp any more than you already do, he goes and leaves a $4,000 tip at a Chicago restaurant. Waiter Mohammed A. Sekhani at the steakhouse Gibson's had previously waited on Depp while he was filming Public Enemies in the Windy City. Sekhani said that Depp was "charming" and not at all demanding. After ordering food and $500 bottles of wine, Depp left his waiter friend - who he calls "Mo" - a hefty tip. Lucky guy!

Depp is currently looking good on the cover of the July issue of Vanity Fair. In the cover story, "Johnny Depp's Great Escape," he gives us a glimpse into his life on a private island in the Caribbean. One of the six beaches on his island is named Gonzo for his late friend Hunter S. Thompson.

Robert Pattinson, Emile de Ravin cover OK Magazine

[Socialite Life]

Robert Pattinson is filming Remember Me in New York City with co-star Emilie de Ravin (Lost). They just filmed a smooching scene on the beach. Now, the gossip mills are abuzz that Emilie is tearing Twilight stars Rob and Kristen Stewart apart. It is awfully interesting that Emilie recently got a divorce.

The two co-stars are on the cover of this week's OK! Magazine. They say that Kristen was in a state of "turmoil" and "flipped out" after seeing Rob's kissing scenes with Emilie. Honey, you and a million other girls! You would think that Kristen would be more upset over the petite blonde with a foreign accent that Rob supposedly left a NYC bar with.

Cameron Diaz gets her star

Actress Cameron Diaz got her star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame on Monday night. Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and Lucy Liu showed up to support Diaz. She dedicated the star to her parents.

Diaz wore an adorable white Oscar de la Renta dress with a matching red belt and heels. This was the perfect outfit for a hot summer day.

The actress's new film My Sister's Keeper opens in theaters on Friday. The film is based on the novel by Jodi Picoult. After reading the book a few years ago, I'm interested in seeing the movie this weekend. I heard that the ending is very different from the book.

Must-have shades: Ray-ban Clubmasters

I'm absolutely in love with the Ray-Ban Clubmaster. As a huge fan of Wayfarers, these are a nice change since the shape is quite similar. The Clubmasters happen to be the "it" glasses of the moment. I also think they're very flattering since the pointed lenses at the temple make your face look thinner.

Celebs galore like Robert Pattinson and Diane Kruger have been seen sporting these shades. See Gossip Girl's Ed Westwick's cool blue pair that he wore to Ray-Ban's Clubmaster relaunch party. The grey/green lens shades pictured are available at Sunglass Hut for $139. There are also many inexpensive versions out there too.

Fatal D.C. Metro accident

[AP]

I am shocked by last night's fatal accident involving two Washington, D.C. Metro trains. The trains collided during rush hour just before 5 p.m. There are now nine people confirmed dead, and 76 injured commuters were taken to area hospitals. It's also possible that there could still be bodies in the wreckage.

The crash occurred on the Red Line above ground near Takoma Park, Maryland. This is such a tragedy. As someone who used to live in D.C. and rode the Metro to work everyday, the thought never crossed my mind that there could be an accident of this magnitude.

Why did the driver of the moving train not see that a train was stopped? It wasn't like they were underground - it was light outside. I hope that some answers come soon. My thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost loved ones.

Darker 'dos for summer

[Seth Browarnik/Startraksphoto.com]
Kate Hudson has always been a sunny blonde. Lately, however, she's been sporting a much darker 'do. Most people tend to lighten up for summer, so Hudson's light caramel hair is unexpected. Plus, darker hair often looks fab with a bronze glow. Hudson's white Herve Leger bandage dress sets off the new hair color and tan.

To keep your dark hair from fading under the sun's rays, use a UV protectant spray like Aveda Sun Veil. This light mist protects hair from sun exposure for a whopping 16 hours, and it prevents your color from fading.

Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

Johnny Depp is starring as the Mad Hatter in director Tim Burton's 3D remake of Alice in Wonderland - so fabulous and a little creepy! It's hard to imagine any other actor in this role. Burton and Depp have also collaborated on five films including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Sweeney Todd.

Burton's wife Helena Bonham Carter is playing The Red Queen. Other famous faces include Anne Hathaway (The White Queen), Michael Sheen (The White Rabbit), Alan Rickman (The Caterpillar) and Christopher Lee (The Jabberwock). The film based on the novel by Lewis Carroll is set to be released in March 2010.

The Proposal

The Proposal is charming and very funny. Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock star in this lovable romantic comedy.

Margaret Tate (Bullock) is a powerful editor-in-chief at a book publishing company in New York City. As a Canadian, Margaret finds out that she must leave the United States after she violates her Visa. So, being the pushy boss that she is, she forces her Executive Assistant Andrew Paxton (the gorgeous Reynolds) to marry her. He agrees to it after she threatens to fire him.

Mr. Gilbertson (Denis O'Hare), a government employee, is onto their little scheme though and threatens to deport Margaret to Canada and send Andrew to prison if they're lying about their relationship. Once Andrew hears this, he tells her that he wants to be promoted to editor. She reluctantly agrees since she's desperate. In order to make the engagement authentic, the two fly to Andrew's hometown in Alaska for his Grandma Annie's (the adorable Betty White) 90th birthday party.

The Paxton family is thrilled to have Andrew home, since he's been unable to come home for three years due to work. Andrew's dad (Craig T. Nelson) is especially puzzled as to why he would want to marry the boss that he's hated for so long, and he wants him to come home and run the family businesses. The Paxtons end up getting excited for the wedding, and they talk them into getting married that weekend.

As you probably guess, Andrew and Margaret learn more about each other and eventually fall in love. Reynolds and Bullock have great chemistry. The film is both sweet and laugh-out-loud funny - and what's there not to love about that?

Jimmy Choo to design for H&M

British luxury shoe brand Jimmy Choo will be creating a line for H&M. The collection is set to arrive in 200 stores around the world this fall on November 14.

Jimmy Choo became a household name after being recognized as a favorite of Carrie Bradshaw on HBO's Sex and the City. Celebrities galore are big fans of the brand's beautiful shoes and handbags.

Jimmy Choo will join one of many guest designer lines for the global chain including Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Madonna, Kylie Minogue and most recently Matthew Williamson. Jimmy Choo's President Tamara Mellon said that it's an honor to be associated with the other designers who have created lines for H&M.

Prices will range from about $50 to $270. No, this isn't what one would call "cheap," but it's much better than the brand's regular $500+ price tag. My guess is that these shoes will sell out in a few hours!

British Airways asks employees to work for free

British Airways has asked 40,000 employees to work without pay due to record losses. BA posted a £401 million ($659 million) loss in 2008. CEO Willie Walsh has asked employees to volunteer by June 24 for between one to four weeks of unpaid work. Walsh is working for free during the month of July.

The airline may also be doing some layoffs in the future. Of course a CEO can afford to work for free month! The company claims that these pay cuts depend on their survival.

The boyfriend blazer

The boyfriend blazer is less fitted than any of your other blazers. It looks great over summery dresses when you want to take the look down a notch and stay warm on chillier nights. Take a cue from Kate Moss's white boyfriend blazer that she sported back in April. This jacket is also great over skinny pants.

The black blazer pictured by Kenna-T is great. The rolled up sleeves make it effortlessly cool. Find it at Nordstrom for $236 (also available in khaki). Yes, this is a bit pricey, but it's a classic piece that you can wear for a long time.

Halle Berry shines in Marchesa

Halle Berry wore a gorgeous lilac Marchesa gown to The Shanghai International Film Festival on Saturday at the Shanghai Grand Theater. The one-shoulder chiffon dress is lovely. The 42-year-old also showed off her newish pixie 'do.

Celeb-favorite line Marchesa has the most elegant designs. Designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig draw their inspiration from the twentieth century eccentric Italian socialite Marchesa Casati.

In Bloom by Reese Witherspoon

Actress Reese Witherpsoon is launching her first perfume, In Bloom by Reese Witherspoon, with Avon this November. Witherspoon has been Avon's global ambassador for the past two years.

“It was a unique experience for me because I had no idea what goes into making perfumes,” said Witherspoon to WWD. “I thought you just pick a fragrance and it’s easy. But there were all these different levels of creating a scent that were new to me, but really fun and exciting.”

The process of creating her signature scent took two years. A Southern girl at heart, Witherspoon used notes of gardenias, Georgia peach, tea leaves, crisp greens, jasmine and magnolia. It sounds lovely!

In Bloom will come in two sizes: 1.7-oz bottle for $34 and a 1-oz. concentrated version for $59. A body mist, body lotion and shower gel are also going to be available for $15.

TrueBlood season 2 premiere

The second season of HBO's TrueBlood premieres this Sunday, June 14 at 9 p.m. Stars Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse) and Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton), a real-life couple, walked the red carpet in L.A. at the Paramount Theater. The show isn't exactly like the Southern Vampire Series by Charlaine Harris that it's based on, but it's still very compelling.

The premise of the show is that vampires have officially entered society thanks to the development of a synthetic blood, called TrueBlood, that quenches their thirst. However, vampires aren't the only supernatural beings out there. Sookie is a telepathic barmaid at Merlottes in Bon Temps, Lousiana. Her boss Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) is a shapeshifter. Sookie's brother, Jason Stackhouse (Aussie cutie, Ryan Kwanten), is also a big player in the series. Sookie tends to get into a lot of trouble since she dates a vampire, Bill. There's always plenty of drama and excitement to go around.

Season one was fantastic, so I can't wait to see what's in store for the second season!

The Taking of Pelham 123

I saw the sneak preview of The Taking of Pelham 123 starring John Travolta and Denzel Washington. Director Tony Scott remade the original 1974 version of the film.

A group of thugs, led by Ryder (Travolta), overtake the Pelham subway train in New York City for a large ransom of $10 million. Walter Garber (Washington) happens to be the lucky MTA operator who receives Ryder's call demanding the money within one hour, or one person will be killed every minute thereafter.

Garber is being investigated by the city for taking a bribe from a train manufacturer and was recently demoted to an operator pending a trial. There is a lot of intense dialogue between Garber and Ryder as they try to work out a deal to save the lives of the innocent people on the train.

James Gandolfini plays the NYC mayor in a somewhat comedic role of an apathetic politician who isn't running for reelection, therefore doesn't put forward much effort for his metropolis. This, of course, changes after this event shakes the city.

Washington was pretty standard in this role. He always plays the same kind of character to me, except for in Training Day. Travolta was good as the former Wall Street guy gone bad, and he succeeded in giving me the creeps numerous times. Overall, I'd wait and rent this film when it's out on DVD.

Anna Sui to design Gossip Girl-inspired line for Target

Designer Anna Sui is set to design a line for Target inspired by Gossip Girl. This is great news since the fashion on GG is so unique! The line is set to hit stores this fall.

Sui says that her collection will be edgier like the characters Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) and Vanessa Abrams' (Jessica Szohr) style, rather than the girly Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) and trendy Serena van der Woodsen's (Blake Lively). I can't wait to see what Sui comes up with.

Tony Awards red carpet

Last night I was in NYC and went to check out the red carpet at the Tony Awards at Radio City. Neil Patrick Harris hosted the awards. Billy Elliot, God of Carnage and Next to Normal were some of the big winners of the night.

My first sighting was Dolly Parton, who was there for 9 to 5. She looked like a bright, white light! God bless her. Next I saw Kevin Spacey, Jeff Daniels and James Gandolfini (who stars in God of Carnage). Then Anne Hathaway arrived in a fabulous black Oscar de la Renta dress and bright red heels. She’s going to star in NY Public Theater’s open-air production of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night as Viola running from June 10 to July 12.

Allison Janney, who currently in 9 to 5, was there in a pretty purple dress. The lovely Angela Lansbury also walked the red carpet briefly. She won the Best Featured Actress Tony for Blithe Spirit – her 5th Tony! John Stamos was there looking very handsome. Will Ferrell, Oliver Platt, Bebe Neuwirth, Stockard Channing and Jane Fonda also made appearances. Frankie Valli from The Four Seasons was there with the guy who plays him in Jersey Boys.

The musical Rock of Ages was well represented on the red carpet with star Constantine Maroulis and Poison. Bret Michaels later ran into the set while performing and was knocked backward. I think his cowboy hat may be impairing his vision!

The Hangover

There’s not much to hate about this hangover. The Hangover, directed by Todd Phillips, takes us through the piecing together of the aftermath of a Las Vegas bachelor party.

Phil (dreamy Bradley Cooper) is a school teacher who takes the money from his student’s field trip expenses to take his buddy Doug (Justin Bartha) out for his Vegas bachelor party. Stu (The Office's Ed Helms), who is a dentist, tells his evil, domineering girlfriend (soon-to-be fiancée) that they’re going to Napa Valley for the weekend so that she'll let him go. Doug’s fiancée’s crazy, and possibly mentally challenged, brother Alan (the hilarious Zach Galifianakis) comes along for the trip too.

The craziness begins after the boys book a villa suite at Caesar’s Palace for over $4,000 a night. They group takes some seemingly innocent shots on the roof then we see them waking up the next morning with the groom nowhere in site. They must now piece together the night's events. There’s one problem - they don’t remember a thing! They do have some clues though; a live tiger (who we find out belongs to none other than Mike Tyson) is in their bathroom, a baby is in their room and Stu is missing a tooth.

Things get out of hand (and funnier) as we discover what happened to them the night before. Phil learns he was in the hospital, Stu married a stripper (Heather Graham), and they realize that they stole a police car.

This side-splitting, memorable film was perectly cast. The four guys were great together. We eventually find out what happened thanks to the discovery of a digital camera. The Hangover is sure to become a classic comedy.

Miss Watson's fantastic Rodarte dress

[Dave M. Benett/Getty Images]

Harry Potter star Emma Watson wore this fun ombre Rodarte dress in London. I love the draping of the bright blue; it's so unique! At first glance it looks like a pageant sash. Rodarte dressed Reese Witherspoon in a longer-length version for the Oscars.

Even though Rodarte is fairly new to the fashion scene, celebrities galore love their designs. They were founded in 2005 by Kate and Laura Mulleavy in California. Keep up the good work!

My Life in Ruins

I saw a sneak preview of My Life in Ruins last night starring Nia Vardalos from My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I didn't know what to expect from another Greece-themed film featuring Vardalos, but I was pleasantly surprised with this romantic comedy.

Georgia (Vardalos) has lost her job as a history professor at Athens University due to budget cuts and is now a tour guide for Pangloss Tours. She's gotten bad evaluations because of her informative, academic tours, as opposed to the kitschy, cheap souvenir-oriented tours that her rival gives.

Her boss gives her the bad groups with people like stereotypical annoying American tourists (played by comic actors Rachel Dratch and Harland Williams), looking-for-men Spanish divorcees and drunk Australians. The bright spot on Georgia's tour is an ornery, but sweet older gentleman, Irv (Richard Dreyfuss), who has recently lost his wife. He eventually helps Georgia get her mojo back.

The tour bus is driven by a scruffy Greek man, Poupi (pronounced Poopy, ha!), who after shaving upon Georgia's suggestion turns into a sensitive hunk (played by Alexis Georgoulis). He, of course, becomes Georgia's love interest.

Overall, it's a cute movie with a few chuckles. It's definitely not as memorable as MBFGW, but it's enjoyable nonetheless. It reminded me of how badly I want to visit Greece.

Ew, Lily Allen

[Mirrorpix/Splash News Online]

Lily Allen took a smoke break while shooting a video for her single "22" in Covent Garden, London. I love that song from her album "It's Not Me, It's You." As for her getup, the hair is cute, but that pewter outfit is questionable.

Am I the only person who finds it ridiculous that someone whose has a career as a singer would puff on cigs (OK, I actually find it ridiculous that anyone still smokes, but that's beside the point!)? That can't be good for her voice. I'm aware that a lot of celebs smoke since they probably think it's a way for them to stay thin. Please just go to the gym, and stop making everyone breathe your nasty air. Thanks.

Fab Stella McCartney dresses

[Jim Spellman/WireImage]
[WireImage]Text Color
Kate Winslet wore this fabulous Stella McCartney dress in NYC. The shape of the dress and silver sleeve lace sleeves are so elegant. I'm not a big fan of the slicked-back hair though.

The daughter of Beatle Paul McCartney has had some great designs lately. Liv Tyler (pictured with the designer and Kate Hudson) wore McCartney's gorgeous black lace dress to the Time's 100 Most Influential People party.

In addition to McCartney's pricier collections, she designs a line for Adidas. Also, a lifelong vegetarian, she doesn't use fur or leather in her collections and has created a line using organic materials. How green chic!

New Moon trailer

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner gave the world the first look at the New Moon trailer on the MTV Movie Awards. It gave me chills!

The almost two-minutes trailer opens with Edward and Bella on her birthday. What's up with Kristen's weird eyebrow movement? Then at the Cullen's house she's nearly attacked by Jasper after getting a paper cut.

We then see Edward leaving Bella. James's and Victoria's friend and fellow vampire Laurent is about to attack Bella then it cuts to a shirtless Jacob (umm, somebody's been working out!). He comes to her rescue and turns into a wolf mid-air. I'd been wondering how the wolves would look.

From what I can tell, the movie definitely has a different look from Twilight. It's most likely due to the new director, Chris Weitz, who has more of a special effects background with films like The Golden Compass. Catherine Hardwicke also shot Twilight in a distinct blue lighting, and this didn't have that look at all. I can't wait to see what Weitz does with one of Stephenie Meyer's beloved novels. C'mon November 20!

MTV Movie Awards fashion

[Just Jared]
[Axelle Woussen/Bauer-Griffin.com]

Fashion at the MTV Movie Awards was quite boring. I know it's not the Oscars, people, but what's up with the mini black dresses everyone was wearing? Props to those who didn't go with a dark look.

Sienna Miller wins best dressed award for her fun, green Swarovski-studded dress from her own line Twenty8Twelve. The British actress paired the look with gold heels by Nicholas Kirkwood and a Chanel clutch. I also really liked Twilight star Ashley Greene's black-and-white floral Dolce & Gabbanna dress with big throwback hair and red nails and lips. Honorable mention goes to presenter Leighton Meester for her daring Emilio de la Morena bandage dress with suede booties.

Now for the multitude of poor fashion decisions. Topping the list was Benjamin Button actress Taraji P. Henson who introduced Eminem wearing a strapless French maid-looking dress. The Disney crew also missed the mark including Vanessa Hudgens in a slinky, peach Max Azria dress that matched her skin, Miley Cyrus in a nude office-ready Moschino halter dress, and Ashley Tisdale in an unflattering purple minidress.

Worst hairdo goes to Megan Fox for her severe, slicked-back hair. Her wannabe Angelina Jolie attitude doesn't help matters either. Kristen Stewart had the most interesting shoe choice in black Chuck Taylors with her red-and-black Yigal Azrouel Spidermanesque dress. That totally fits her personality though.

As for the gentlemen, they mostly went pretty cazh. Robert Pattinson was looking fine in a bright blue jacket. It was nice to see him in a bright color like that. Star Trek hottie and presenter Chris Pine looked awfully cute in a cardigan, black skinny tie and jeans. I also liked Zac Efron's charcoal suit and striped tie.

Craziness at the MTV Movie Awards

So we all know that it wouldn't be the MTV Movie Awards without something shocking, scandalous or wildly inappropriate happening. The 2009 awards did not disappoint. SNL comedian Andy Samberg hosted the show.

Bruno, Sacha Baron Cohen's new flamboyant alter-ego, flew in (yes, flew in like an angel) to announce an award. Bruno happened to be wearing some sort of harness/thong, and he spiraled out of control and landed on Eminem's face. It was disturbing. Eminem dropped a few f-bombs and stormed out. I'm pretty sure he was in on it though.

Leann Rimes, Chris Isaac and Forest Whitaker did a lame melody of Samberg's songs like "D--- in a Box." Overall the presenters were unexciting. Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock, who star in the upcoming film The Proposal, were kind of awkward presenting, and Hayden Panattierre kept cussing while announcing the WTF Award.

Twilight racked up the awards including Best Breakout Performance Male for Rob Pattinson, Best Female Performance for Kristen Stewart (who dropped her golden popcorn award after accepting it, God bless her), Best Kiss and Best Movie. Rob and Kristen almost did a reenactment for their famous Edward and Bella kiss. Everyone wants to know - are they dating, or not?
