Kate Spade cocktail ring
Oh, how do I love cocktail rings? Let me count thy ways. Right now I adore this Kate Spade "Tuileries ring" with topaz and cream pearls. It's also available in pink or blue topaz.
This ring is great because it would add some pizazz to any outfit. It reminds me of something from my grandma's jewelry box - and she had amazing taste in jewelry!
It comes in sizes 6, 7 or 8 for $95 (plus free shipping). It's also plated in 12-carat gold, and comes packaged in an adorable green box with a bow in true Kate Spade fashion. There are also matching earrings for $95.
The best exercise shorts out there
[roadrunnersports.com]
I work out about five times a week, and I wear these shorts for everything from weight training to running to yoga. These shorts don't ride up when running, which is crucial. They also keep me cool during heated yoga.
Nike is always coming out with cute new color combos too. Right now, nike.com has them on sale for $19.99 (reg. $28). Roadrunner also has them on sale for $21.95. Stock up while you can!
Cute booties
Now, about those shoes. I am thrilled that ankle booties are returning for fall. They look great with dresses, as Paltrow expertly demonstrated, or with skinnies and leggings. I am still wearing my black pair that I bought three years ago!
Open-toed booties are also very on trend. Pair them with tights and skirts or dresses in the winter. The black Steve Madden "Mirakle" bootie (pictured) is on sale at Nordstrom right now for $89.95 from $129.95. Act fast because prices go back up in three days!

Rachelle Lefevre replaced in Eclipse
Summit claims that she was replaced because of a scheduling conflict. Another film that Lefevre was working on, Barney's Version, was set to begin filming for two weeks in Europe on the same day as Eclipse production began. Lefevre had this to say, "Never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10-day overlap."
Howard's last film was Terminator Salvation, but she is perhaps most famous for her roles in The Village and Spiderman 3. Howard, also a redhead, is the daughter of well-known actor/director Ron Howard (DaVinci Code and Frost/Nixon).
Fans are really upset about Summit's decision to replace Lefevre. I don't think it's a good idea to change the cast midway through the saga. My only complaint with Lefevre in Twilight was that her hair wasn't quite as fiery red as it was described in the book.
After having just read Eclipse again, I think either actress is a good match for the role of Victoria. Her role is pretty big in this book, but if you've read the books you know that she will obviously not be in the next film Breaking Dawn. Yesterday Lefevre tweeted, "I am so touched by all your responses and feel incredibly blessed to have fans like you. From the bottom of my heart: THANK YOU."

Eva Mendes new Macy's home line
Unfortch I'm not very impressed with the bedding. I don't like the colors that she used - they're predictable. On the positive side, it's reasonably priced, and the line is also already on sale. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the flowery "Penelope" collection (pictured, $199 for 4-piece set). However, I much prefer Anthropologie's bohemian-chic bedding. See all of Mendes's designs here.

Denim is in
OK, denim has always been in, but it's hot, hot, hot right now - from jeans to shirts to vests to purses, it's everywhere! There are a few stylish denim trends that I especially love...
1. Boyfriend jeans. These baggy, comfy and casual jeans look like they were stolen from your bf. Katie Holmes was the first to be seen in Current/Elliott jeans that looked like they were stolen from her hubby, Tom. In my opinion, the Current/Elliott jeans are a bit too expensive for something so trendy (over $200 a pop), but Old Navy has a cute affordable pair called the "Weekend Jeans" for $34.50. Or, steal your man's for absolutely free!
2. Tie-dye denim. These edgy jeans are definitely not for the timid. I'm digging the Black Orchid Jewel Skinny Jean in Stone (pictured, $107, shopintuition.com). I also like Urban Outfitters Silence & Noise black pair for a reasonable $68. If you're feeling crafty, you could take some bleach to an old pair of dark jeans for the same effiect.
3. Distressed denim. Torn, ripped or shredded denim is everywhere. This trend can also be mixed with a pair of torn boyfriend jeans. I love the look of torn skinnies, like the black J Brand pair seen in the photo ($187, Saks.com). Silence & Noise also makes a similar pair for $68 (available at Urban Outfitters). This look is best paired with a flowing top.
Unpleasant images of a Canadian tuxedo may come to mind when you think of head-to-toe denim, but there are ways you can wear denim on the top and the bottom without looking questionable. I like darker jeans paired with a lighter denim top or vest.

New Twilight gear
InStyle.com just posted an exclusive look at Nordstrom's Twilight Saga: New Moon Collection that's set to hit stores in October. The collection includes v-neck, short-sleeved tees with "Team Edward" in white (pictured, $32), "New Moon Eternal Love" in grey ($32), "Bet You Can't Read My Mind" in blue ($32) and "Forks High School" yellow ($32). Also included are a Cullen family charm necklace ($30), a plaid jacket ($58) and a grey "Team Jacob" tank ($28). I have a feeling that these will be really popular, especially amongst the younger Twihards.
Jewelry designer Jules Smith, a celeb favorite, designed some Twilight-inspired jewelry. I think these "Bella's Good Luck Charm" bracelets (pictured) are really cute. The two black rubber bracelets are available with a yellow gold, silver or gunmetal fang charm. Pre-order them now for $20. There's also an "Edward's Smile" necklace for $65, a "Jacob's Nemesis" bracelet for $45 and "Charm School Vintage Jellies" bracelets for $15/set of two (one with charm, one without). These are very cute. My only qualm is that the Twilight vamps don't actually have fangs! I guess it's symbolic, right? View the collection here.

The Ugly Truth
Mike and Abby butt heads at first. He promises her that he will help her get her cute doctor neighbor Colin (Eric Winter) to like her, and if he doesn't then he'll quit the show. Abby becomes who Mike has told her to be - someone other than her usual "neurotic, situation controlling" self - so that Colin will fall in love with her. She eventually realizes that Colin doesn't know who she really is, and she likes someone else - I think you can guess who!
The movie has a happy ending, and Butler and Heigl had good chemistry. The Scottish Butler, who I loved in P.S. I Love You, is fun to watch because although he's not perfect looking, he is very rugged and masculine. The film definitely deserved its R rating for sexual scenes and language. Overall, it offers a lot of laughs. The audience in my theater really seemed to enjoy it.
Twilight graphic novel in the works
Entertainment Weekly just announced that a graphic novel of Twilight is in the works. How exciting! Korean artist Young Kim is creating the art, and Stephenie Meyer herself is reviewing every panel.
This panel features the famous biology class scene. After reading the series again, I think that in the film both Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen and Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan were perfectly cast. Kim's drawing of Edward looks very much like Pattinson with his signature hair. The artist's version of Bella doesn't look exactly like Stewart, but I think that's perfectly fine. These are just one person's vision of a novel. Everyone envisions something different when they read.
I can't wait to check out the graphic novel. See more drawings in the EW issue on newsstands now.
Posh polka dots
Victoria Beckham arrived in London's Heathrow Airport yesterday dressed to the nines as usual. She was in L.A. to support her husband David's soccer game. I bet she was upset over all of the booing. I love her flowing polka dot blouse by Spanish designer Loewe and white high-waisted trousers. The grey pumps are fab too.
I've always been a fan of polka dots. I like this budget-friendly black-and-white polka dot dress from Forever 21 (a steal at $22.80). It would be cute with a colorful, like a bright red or blue, cardigan over it.

Good Girls Go Bad
"Good Girls Go Bad" by Cobra Starship featuring Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester is my guilty pleasure. It's such a fun, catchy dance tune. The pop punk band Cobra Starship hails from NYC. Meester can actually sing too!

BB Dakota Battalion Jacket
This fabulous BB Dakota Battalion Jacket is available for pre-sale now. The jacket ships on August 3. The jacket is featured in the August 2009 issue of In Style under the "steals" section. The cotton jacket has cloth-covered eye hook closures and a chic mandarin collar.
Celebs galore have been sporting military jacket styles lately including Beyonce in a black-and-silver Balmain jacket. Michael Jackson, of course, always knew how to rock a military jacket.
The Battalion Jacket is available on modcloth.com for $101.99. This is a steal for a versatile fall jacket! I envision it with skinny jeans and heels, or a pencil skirt for a work-friendly ensemble.
Public Enemies
FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover (played by the smarmy Billy Crudup) is tasked to defeat the gangsters which include Dillinger, Pretty Boy Floyd (Channing Tatum) and Baby Face Nelson (Stephen Graham). He desperately needs help, so he hires Special Agent Purvis (Christian Bale) to catch them. After killing Pretty Boy Floyd, Purvis becomes obsessed in his conquest for Dillinger.
Dillinger is fiercely loyal. At the beginning of the film, he is returning to prison and manages to break out his old buddies. He meets a coat check girl Billie Frechette (French actress Marion Cotillard) at a club and is instantly smitten with her. He promises to take care of her and buys her fur coats and takes her on exciting trips. There are numerous violent scenes including a shootout in a lodge in the woods of Wisconsin. Dillinger always seems to be one step ahead of his counterparts though.
After taking a woman (played by Emilie de Ravin) out of the bank Dillinger has just robbed, he leaves her unharmed and gives her his coat to keep her warm as something to remember him by. He wanted to be well liked by the public, didn't believe in kidnapping, preferred for no one to get hurt, and had a love of good clothes and movies. We all know what happened to Dillinger in the end, but it was interesting to see a different side of him.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince shows us a much more grown-up Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson). The gang is starting their sixth year at Hogwarts School, and the battle between good and evil is alive and well.
The movie begins with Harry flirting with a waitress when he is pulled away for an urgent matter by Professor Dumbledore (Michael Gambon). Dumbledore wants Harry to entice Professor Slughorn (Jim Broadbent) to come back to teach potions at Hogwarts.
Meanwhile, Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton) has been chosen by the dark side. His mother is worried about him, so Bellatrix Lestrange (the always creepy Helena Bonham Carter) makes the unbreakable promise with the evil Professor Snape (the fabulous Alan Rickman) that he will protect Draco and carry out any deeds that he is unwilling to fulfill.
There is also love brewing in the air. Ron gets an overbearing girlfriend named Lavender. Hermione is jealous since she likes Ron. Harry is also jealous that his crush Ginny Weasley (Bonnie Wright) has a boyfriend. Dumbledore sums up love the best when he says, "Oh to be young and to feel love's keen sting."
Harry ends up with a book in potions class that belonged to the Half-Blood Prince, who is a mystery at this point. The book has notes in it that help Harry become the star of the class. Dumbledore has tasked Harry to find out what Professor Slughorn told the young Voldemort when he was in his class, known then as Tom Riddle.
Slughorn aggrees to let Harry have his memory. Once he and Dumbledore discover the secret, that he told him how to split his soul so that he could never die, they must find where Voldemort has hidden his souls. This is where the tragedy strikes. We also learn who the Half-Blood Prince is.
The special effects are amazing without being overwhelming. The Quidditch games are especially cool. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I is set to be released next year and Part II in 2011.
Lindsay Lohan covers Spanish Vogue
Lindsay Lohan is featured on the cover of the August 2009 issue of Spanish Vogue for a Marilyn Monroe-esque spread. How is this girl still getting jobs? Hmm, maybe she has a fan base in Spain?
Lohan, in a blonde wig, is wearing the black-and-white Dolce & Gabbana Marilyn dress on the cover. Some of the shots by Alix Malka are a little risque. I know she's supposedly obsessed with Marilyn Monroe, but I don't understand people always having her portray her. I don't see any resemblance. You may remember her recreation of Monroe's famous NY Magazine cover last year.
The funniest thing I've heard recently about Lohan is that she turned down Heather Graham's role in the smash hit The Hangover. She said that it had "no potential." Ha! I bet she's kicking herself big time.
Aussie Xavier Samuel to join Eclipse cast
There were whispers for a while that Channing Tatum might play Riley. Samuel has been in several Australian films, but this will be his American film debut. Not too shabby!
I'm reading Eclipse again now. It's my third favorite book in the series. The movie is set to begin filming in August. Yesssss!

Whitney Houston's new album cover
When I was little, I went to Miss Houston's show in Richmond, VA. My mom, sister and I would belt out "Greatest Love of All" in the car. I can't wait to hear how she sounds these days. Everyone is rooting for her!

Renee Zellweger to become Bridget Jones again
[Universal Studios]
Renee Zellweger will play the role of the British heroine Bridget Jones once more, according to Variety. The saga for Miss Jones to find love and happiness will continue after the first two films in 2001 and 2004, Bridget Jones' Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.
The film will be based on some columns written for The Independent by author Helen Fielding. Miss Jones will now be 40ish and trying to get pregnant. Will she be able to decide between the sweet, lovable Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) and Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant), the cheating womanizer? This seems like a no-brainer to me!
I love these movies. My only annoyance with them was that they made Zellweger absolutely look terrible - awful outfits and horrible makeup (or lack of). Maybe they'll improve on that for the third installment. Filming is set to start at the end of the year.
Adorable GE commercial
I saw this GE Locomotives commercial this morning while watching The Today Show. The GE men are singing 80s hit song "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin (from Top Gun). Too cute! This sure beats Jessica Simpson's cover of the song.

Channing Tatum covers GQ
Tatum stars in the summer blockbuster G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, which is out on August 7. In the interview, he says of his rise to fame, "I got crazy lucky. Like, sometimes I think I won the lottery or something." He also says that everyone calls him "Chan," and his favorite restaurant is Cracker Barrel. Aww, God bless him.
Tatum married longtime girlfriend Jenna Dewan, his costar from the dancing movie Step Up, last weekend. In the interview, he calls Dewan the "love of his life." They're such a cute couple!

Scarlett Johansson: New face of MANGO
It was just announced that Scarlett Johansson (aka Mrs. Ryan Reynolds) will be the face of the new MANGO campaign. MANGO is Spain's international fashion company. I like the work-friendly MANGO outfit she's wearing. The high-waisted black skirt would definitely be a wardrobe staple for me.
MANGO's mantra is "fashion for the young, urban woman." Their prices are very reasonable (about in the Topshop price range). Shop online here, or visit one of the many stores in big cities across the country including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and more.

Gold's Gym wants to fight cankles
Gold's Gym has launched their Say No to Cankles campaign. This site is a hilarious must-see (yes, it's legit). Gold's offers advice for those suffering from cankles, such as walking or taking step classes. They also offer up fashion, such as avoid ankle straps and skinny jeans, and diet advice. This is so random!
Kate Winslet covers Bazaar
Winslet discusses nudity in the interview - especially after Oprah praised her real tatas on air. "I'll be 34 in October. I can't keep getting away with it. There was so much of it in The Reader because the story required it, but people have seen enough of my bum and my boobs. I have to put them back."
She claims that she was hired as the face of Lancome because women can relate to her. She says, "The media plays such a big role in how women measure themselves against other women, so I can be in a position where I can say beauty comes from within, we're not all perfect, and the covers of magazines are of course retouched. We do not look like that." Amen, sister!
Winslet's newest Lancome campaign, L'Absolu Rouge lipstick, launches this month.
When in Rome
The Obamas arrived in Rome, Italy yesterday for the 35th annual G8 Summit. The First Lady was looking chic, as always. Her fresh, yellow sheath dress and green flower accent are fun and summery. She has a great sense of style and knows what works well on her figure.
The G8 (short for Group of 8) is attended by the world's eight most powerful leaders including: United States, France, United Kingdom, Russia, Italy, Canada, Germany and Japan. Controversial Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is hosting this year's summit in L'Aquila - where the devastating earthquake hit in April.

Rainy Harry Potter premiere
I know that Grint is recovering from the swine flu, but are the top of his pants hot pink? Err, interesting. I don't hate Watson's chiffon Proenza Schouler maxidress, but I'm not crazy about it. It's a bit too old for the 19-year-old. I'm also not a big fan of Radcliffe's (aka Harry Potter's) unflattering Asian-inspired suit.
Bradley Cooper on set of Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day is about the pressures that couples and singles face on February 14, so they break up and make up. The film features a star-studded cast including Julia Roberts, Ashton Kutcher, Jennifer Garner, Shirley MacClaine, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Biel and Jessica Alba. It's scheduled to be released February 10, 2010.
Mr. Cooper was recently spotted hanging with Renee Zellweger in NYC. The two just finished filming together for the thriller Case 39.

Jessica Biel's cute LV outfit
Actress Jessica Biel wore an adorable Louis Vuitton miniskirt with a fitted tuxedo jacket and peep-toe pumps to the Wild Animal Sanctuary benefit in Beverly Hills. The event was hosted by the French fashion house, LV. Biel's outfit is business-like but fun. You just can't go wrong with a black-and-white color combo.
People are wondering if Miss Biel is still dating Justin Timberlake. Rumors were circulating that Timberlake cheated on her after Lindsay Lohan tweeted and took a photo of him canoodling with a mystery woman.

Ulta=mini heaven
Pricier makeup brands like bareMinerals, Smashbox, Benefit and Bourjois are sold as well as inexpensive brands like Maybelline and Rimmel London. The same goes for hair products; they sell everything from Frederic Fekkai to L'Oreal. They also carry perfume, cologne and styling tools like Chi straighteners.
I scored some great deals yesterday. Ulta-brand makeup is buy-one-get-one free, so I got two eyeliners for $7! I also bought a huge bottle of Sebastian Shaper Plus hairspray for $4.99 (regularly $14). Maybelline Great Lash mascara was also BOGO free ($4.59). Nail polishes were buy-two-get-one free, so I bought a few of my favorite Essie polishes ($8 each).
They frequently have coupons such as $3.50 off a $10 purchase. They also have a rewards program. No store near you? Check out their Web site here.
Marion Cotillard in Vivienne Westwood
French actress Marion Cotillard wore a dramatic, red satin Vivienne Westwood dress to the London premiere of her film Public Enemies. You may recall Carrie Bradshaw sporting a similar neckline in Sex and the City in her Westwood-designed wedding gown. Cotillard added a pompadour 'do, ankle-strap heels and an oversized Stella McCartney clutch to complete her ensemble. Tres chic!
Public Enemies is in theaters today. Cotillard stars in the gangster film with Johnny Depp and Christian Bale - not a bad gig!
