Stephenie Meyer's "The Host" to become film

I am thrilled that Twilight author Stephenie Meyer's adult science-fiction novel The Host will be made into a film. I read the novel last year, and it's an incredibly fascinating story.

In The Host, alien figures referred to as "souls" have invaded Earth. They're implanting into human hosts and taking over their bodies and minds. The soul Wanderer has invaded Melanie Stryder's body. Melanie refuses to let the soul take over her mind. They develop a unique relationship. The soul even falls in love with the man that Melanie loves.

Andrew Niccol will write the script and direct the film. His previous projects include The Truman Show and Gattaca.
