For fall 09, sequins will no longer conjure up images of prom dresses gone wrong. Luckily, I already own a fabulous black one from Banana Republic that I will wear again this season. Sequins are so much fun! Tights or leggings go great with these dresses on a chilly night. The rest of the ensemble should be pretty simple.
Just a plain ol' black sequin dress is adequate. To jazz it up a bit, try animal print sequins. The ultimate luxe dress is Marc Jacobs 'sequined zebra stripe dress' for $2,800 at net-a-porter.com. A more affordable version is the 'sequin animal pattern tunic' at Arden B. for $78.
Colored sequins are also an option. I saw a pretty gold sequined dress at H&M yesterday. Alice + Olivia's forest green sequined dress ($495 at shopbop.com) with a keyhole back is fun, and it's an unexpected color.
Bebe's 'ruched sequin party dress' is great because you can wear it as strapless or with straps. Plus, it just has sequins on the bottom half, and it's an affordable $139.
