Full spring jacket

Perhaps it's the balmy weather we've been having lately that has me obsessing over jackets. As we transition to spring and store away the heavy wool coats, it's time to break out the light jackets. There are so many great options. Here are the top five on my list...

1) Leather
Leather or faux leather jackets are great because they're substantial enough to keep you warm but light enough that you won't sweat to death when the temps start to rise. I love New York and Company's 'Faux Leather Motorcycle Jacket' in khaki (on sale for $62.96). It's also available in black. [piperlime.com]

2) Ruffled
Ruffles are the epitome of girly. Milly's 'Ruffle Jacket' ($416, yes it's pricey) from Piperlime is a great office jacket. I like the ruffled stand-up color and the amazing vibrant coral color. [anthropologie.com]

The 'Rippling Pond Jacket' ($148) from Anthropologie is another good ruffle choice, and it would go with just about anything. I like that it has a belt for a cinched-in waist.

3) Trench
Trench coats and spring showers go together like PB&J. Traditional khaki trenches never go out of style. If you prefer a trench with a bit of flare Forever 21 has a cute green one with gingham piping, 'Country Trench Coat' ($39.80).

4) Boyfriend
Boyfriend styles are still chic, and I wear my black one all the time. I'm wanting a lighter colored one for spring, and this 'Jersey Lined Lace Blazer' ($110) from TopShop fits the bill. It would be perfect over a pair of cargo pants.

5) Anorak
A jacket perfect for this spring's military trend is the anorak jacket. This jacket is in a washed cotton material and has a high neck. GAP's version in spectrum green, 'Military Anorak' (on sale for $44.99), is very wearable. I also just bought a similar one at H&M for $49.50 in a chambray color.
